Gary Reeves is a bonze artist, a craftsman, a son, brother, father and man of god. Born in Morroco to a German immigrant and an Air Force officer, the middle child of five. The kids were raised all over the country depending on where their father happened to be stationed at the time. The military aspect of Gary’s upbringing instilled a deep respect for the sacrifice of our military personal, an unwavering love for our country and an innate fascination with history.

During his high school years in Sacramento, Gary’s art teacher noticed that he was especially gifted at sculpting ceramics and took a special interest. In no time, he was assisting as the teachers aide. Gary went on to work for Bennett Sculpture as an artisan where he honed his skills in the foundry process, as well as sculpting. In the late 80’s Gary moved to Maui to operate the foundry Maui bronze and became well known in the local marine art scene.

Over the years Gary has worked with many different mediums; mosaic, ceramic, and bronze being his favorites. Throughout his many years as a contractor building custom homes, his art was always a steadfast passion and muse. In 2014, after many years of struggling with substance abuse addiction, he got sober with the support of the Union Gospel Mission in Yakima Washington. God has been a guiding force in his life ever since. Gary now resides in the mountain town of Naches Washington where he creates his artwork, and also does custom solar installs for recreational vehicles as a side hobby. Though his art is still his passion, his two grown children, Tyler & Nicki, remain his greatest creations.
